Adult Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth. This 7.5 hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.
Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
Soul Shop™ for Leaders is a one-day workshop designed for clergy, staff, lay pastors, and faith-based clinicians to develop soul-safe communities by equipping members to address suicide as a regular aspect of their life and work.
Soul Shop™ for Black Churches is a one-day workshop designed for clergy, staff, lay pastors, and faith-based clinicians in the Black Church. Given the prominence of the church within Black communities, Soul Shop equips these leaders who are on the front lines of the mental health crisis to minister to those impacted by all the faces of trauma and struggle in regards to suicide.
This presentation will discuss the emotional, psychological, and physical impacts of working in the caring professions and within helping systems, as well as explore strategies to address Chronic Stress, Compassion Fatigue, Vicarious Trauma, and Burnout. Attendees will learn ways to tap into the power of resilience and how to implement a trauma-informed framework while supporting self-care both individually and organizationally.
This Training introduces concepts, establishes language to equip staff and leadership with foundational tools and understanding of trauma informed care, as well as develop strategies both professionally and organizationally to be a more trauma informed professional.
